During my previous life as a graphic designer I often worked with studio based photographers, art directing and sometimes styling shoots for clients. These days I hold the camera, shooting a wide range of subjects, almost entirely on location, preferring to use natural light where I can. Much of my personal work leans towards the lives of ordinary people, with a particular interest in artisans. My regular visits to Portugal between 2010 and 2014, and subsequent book project Two Hundred Days, helped to cement my interest in the lives of ordinary and extraordinary people, many of which worked on the land. It was an important step in establishing my areas of interest and my approach to photography, which I categorise as documentary and storytelling.
